[서종협 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 동해 북평원님답교놀이 보존회(이하 보존회)가 전국대회인 제63회 한국민속예술제에 출전을 위한 발대식을 오는 27일(토) 전천 둔치일원에서 갖는다고 밝혔다.

오는 10월 29일 충남 공주시에서 개최되는 한국민속예술제에 강원도 대표로 출전하는 북평원님답교놀이 보존회는 70여명의 회원들로 구성 되어 있으며, 지난 2019년 강원민속예술축제에 참가하여 최우수상을 수상한 바 있다. 

40세 ~ 85세까지 다양한 연령층으로 구성되어 있는 보존회는 대부분이 직장인으로 강원도 대표로 출전하여 좋은 성적을 거두기 위해 주말과  휴일을 반납한 채 구슬땀을 흘리며 맹연습 중이다.

보존회는 전국대회 출전에 앞서, 9월 24일 무릉제행사에서 민속공연 시연을 비롯하여 29일 정선에서 열리는 강원민속예술축제에 참가하여  그동안 갈고 닦은 기량을 펼치며 실전에 대비할 계획이다.

이월출 문화관광과장은 “동해북평원님답교놀이는 많은 전문가들로부터 역사적 보존가치를 인정받고 있다”며 “강원도 무형유산의 우수성을 널리 홍보하여 문화재 지정 신청의 정당성을 마련하는 계기가 되길 바란다”고 밝혔다.

한편, 동해북평답교놀이는 북평지역에서 조선시대부터 사람들이 많이 모이는 뒤뜰장터에서 지속해 오다가 일제강점기에 맥이 일시 끊어졌으나 생존자의 고증에 따라 1978년 제19회 전국민속예술경연대회에 강원도 대표로 출전하면서 ‘동해 북평 원님놀이 보존회’ 회원들의 노력으로 오늘에 이르고 있다.
