[김현우 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 강릉시는 연안침식 방지를 위해 8월 초 순포지구 연안정비사업을 본격 실시한다고 밝혔다.

순포지구는 연안침식에 따른 해변 소실 및 해안시설 피해가 심각한 지역으로, 인명 및 재산 피해가 우려됨에 따라 해양수산부 제3차 연안정비 사업 대상지로 선정됐다.

강릉시는 지난해 기본 및 실시설계용역을 발주하여 기초조사, 현지 조사 및 해양조사 등을 실시했으며, 총사업비 11억 원을 투입하여 기존 호안 전체 구간을 보강하고, 230m 길이의 침식방지시설 설치 등 사면을 보강하여 침식피해를 최소화할 방침이다.

아울러 제3차 연안정비 사업에 함께 포함된 연곡지구, 순긋~사근진지구에 대해서도 순차적으로 정비를 추진할 계획이다. 

강릉시 관계자는 “최근 연안침식이 가속화되는 가운데, 이번 사업을 통하여 순포지구의 해안 복원 및 지역주민의 생명과 재산 보호를 위하여 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
