[김일웅 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 북부지방산림청장은 생태·경관적으로 안정된 목재수확을 추진하기 위하여 제1회 탄소중립 민·관 심의위원회를 개최했다고 밝혔다. 

산림청은 작년 2050 탄소중립 추진전략(안)을 발표했으나, 언론과 국민들은 탄소중립 전략(안)이 산림의 경관, 생태 등 다양한 가치를 충분히 고려하지 않는다는 우려를 제기했다고 전했다. 

이에 산림청은 환경부, 학계전문가, 환경단체, 임업단체 등이 참여하는 산림부문 탄소중립 민관협의회를 구성했으며, 합의한 사항을 반영하여 전략안을 수정했다고 했다. 

대면적 목재수확을 지양하고, 목재수확 관리·감독을 강화하기 위해 올해부터 10ha 이상 목재수확 사업지는 산지 전문기관(한국산지보전협회)을 통한 타당성조사를 실시하고, 20ha이상 목재수확 사업지는 타당성조사 완료 후 민·관 심의위원회를 실시하도록 했다고 전했다.

북부지방산림청은 산림경영·자원조성·산림재해·산림생태 등 학식과 경험이 풍부한 전문가 및 시민단체 등으로 심의위원으로 구성했으며, 타당성조사를 완료한 올해 목재수확지 3개소를 대상으로 재해·경관·생태 영향, 작업로 복구 계획 등을 심사했다고 했다.

최수천 청장은 “이번 민·관 심의위원회을 통해 목재수확 사전 관리·감독을 강화하여, 친환경목재수확을 정착하고 재해·경관·생태 등 영향을 감소시켜 지속적인 목재수확을 추진하도록 노력하겠다.”라고 말했다.
