[장선희 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 정선군은 가리왕산 생태복원 및 올림픽 국가정원 추진과 연계하여, 정선군 전역의 정원도시화(化)를 통한 정원경제 생태계 조성 추진 전략을 마련하고자 '정선군 정원도시 활성화 방안 용역'을 완료했다고 밝혔다.

이번 용역에서는 가리왕산 올림픽 국가정원 조성 및 함백산 야생화 지방정원 추진 등 권역별 대표거점 광역정원을 조성하고, 고한·사북 골목길 정원 등과 같은 마을정원, 테마정원, 개방정원, 농장정원 등 다양한 특성을 가진 주민참여형 정원들을 조성·확대하는 정원생태계 연결망을 구축함으로서, 정선군 전역을 하나의 공동체 정원도시(Open Community Garden City)로 재창조하는 '대한민국 NO.1 산림형 생태정원도시 비전'이 제시되었다고 했다.

군은 이를 실현하기 위한 동북권, 동남권, 서북권, 서남권 등 4개 권역별 세부 추진 방안과 정원도시 5개 분야 10대 핵심과제를 선정하였다고 했다.

군에서는 이번 '정선군 정원도시 활성화 방안 용역'을 통해 생태복원, 탄소중립, 그린뉴딜, 지역균형발전 등과 연계한 가리왕산 올림픽 국가정원 조성의 당위성과 지속가능성을 확보해 나갈 계획이며, 또한 폐광지역 경제활성화 및 신규 일자리 창출 등을 통해 지방소멸 대응 및 미래지향적 도시성장을 가능케하는 웰니스 정원경제 신성장동력 종합플랜을 갖추게 됨으로써 가리왕산 올림픽 국가정원 조성과 정원도시 추진에 한층 더 박차를 가해 나간다는 방침이라고 전했다.
