[김현우 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 원주시는 25일부터 코로나19 재택치료자에 대한 생필품 지원을 중단한다고 밝혔다.

원주시는 2020년부터 자가격리자와 재택치료자에게 쌀과 라면, 통조림 등이 담긴 생필품 세트를 지원해왔다고 전했다.

지난 2월 중앙사고수습본부의 재택치료자 격리방식 변경과 함께 각 지자체 판단으로 생필품 지급 여부를 결정하도록 했으나, 시는 어려운 여건에서도 추가로 예산을 투입해 재택치료자에 대한 지원을 지속해 왔다고 했다.

그러나 최근 확진자 발생이 연일 수천 명에 이르러 시의 재난관리기금이 소진되어 가는 상황에서, 3월부터 코로나19 확진자 동거인의 격리가 면제되는 등 방역 지침의 변경으로 생필품 지원의 실효성이 떨어진다고 판단해 중단을 결정했다고 했다.

한편 원주시는 지난 3월 24일 기준으로 생필품 총 45,669세트를 지급해 25억 7천만 원 상당의 예산을 사용했다고 전했다.
