[김일웅 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 북부지방산림청은 불법 산림훼손 행위 근절을 위해 ‘2022년 불법산림훼손방지 종합대책’을 수립하여 시기별·유형별 맞춤 단속을 실시할 계획이라고 밝혔다.

최근 3년간 북부지방산림청 관내에서는 전체 490건(피해액 3,855백만원)의 산림피해가 발생했으며, 피해 유형으로는 불법산지전용 319건(70.8%), 불법임산물채취 83건(16.9%), 무허가벌채 28건(5.7%) 등으로 나타났다고 했다.

이러한 산림 내 위법행위를 근절하고자 최신 위성영상 등 산림과학기술을 활용하여 위법사항을 확인하고, 확인된 위법사항을 토대로 산림사범수사대의 운영을 통해 집중단속을 실시할 계획이라고 했다.

단속 현장에서 산림 내 위법행위가 적발될 경우 사법처리 진행되며, 「산지관리법」 등 관련법에 따라 최대 5년 이하의 징역 또는 5,000만 원 이하의 벌금에 처해진다고 전했다.

최수천 북부지방산림청장은 “국민들의 각별한 주의와 산림자원 보호에 대한 국민들의 자발적인 참여를 당부한다”고 전하면서, 산림 내 불법행위를 발견할 시에는 해당 국유림관리소 또는 시·군으로 지체없이 신고해 줄 것을 당부했다.
