[김현우 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 동해시가 올해 2억 4천여만원을 들여 주거환경개선, 이사비용 지원, 만성질환자 의료비 지원, 홀몸어르신 건강음료 지원 등 13개의 희망디딤돌 복지사업을 실시한다고 밝혔다.

희망디딤돌 복지사업은 동해시민 이웃사랑 실천 범시민 운동인 ‘동해 해오름 천사(1004) 운동’으로 모인 성금으로 추진된다고 했다.

동해시는 지난해 코로나19에 따른 어려운 사업 추진 여건 속에서도 취약계층의 주거환경 개선 31건, 이사비용 42건, 학원비 지원 178건 등 총 10개 사업(1,678건) 1억 3천여만원을 지원해 지역 복지 증진에 크게 기여했다고 전했다.

올해는 전년도 사업 편성 예산(1억 9천만원) 대비 25% 증가한 2억 4천여만원을 편성·추진할 방침으로, 보호종료 가정위탁아동 및 미진학 저소득 청소년 자립생활비 지원, 동 지역사회보장협의체 공모사업 등 신규사업을 포함해 총 13개 지원사업을 진행할 계획이라고 했다.

권순찬 복지과장은 “동해시민의 따뜻한 마음으로 지원되는 만큼 어려운 이웃들의 행복지수를 높일 수 있는 천사의 손길이 지역 곳곳에 미칠 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.

한편, 해오름 천사(1004)운동은 지난 2010년부터 동해시민 소액기부 문화 확산을 위해 1인 1계좌 1004원 이상 후원하는 운동으로, 참여는 각 동 행정복지센터와 동해시청 복지과를 통해 새로운 천사로 가입할 수 있다고 전했다.
