[장선희 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 2월 18일, 양양국제공항을 모기지로 하는 TCC 항공사 플라이강원이 양양국제공항에서 양양~여수 취항식을 갖고,  양양발 여수노선을 첫 취항했다고 밝혔다.

이날 취항식은 코로나19 오미크론 변이바이러스 확산에 따라 양양국제공항 2층 출발장에서 간소하게 진행됐다고 했다. 

양양~여수 노선은 월․수․금․일 주 4회 운항하며, 특히 육로를 통해 이동 할 경우 7시간 이상 걸리는 반면, 양양국제공항에서 여수공항 이동 시 막히지 않는 하늘길로 1시간 만에 이동할 수 있다고 전했다.

한국공항공사 양양공항장과 강원도청 글로벌통상국장, 양양군 부군수, 양양군의회의장 등의 인사들만 최소 참석하여 취항편 승무원들에게 꽃다발을 전달하며 첫 취항을 축하했고, 항공기가 도착 한 후, 여수공항에서도 지역 및 공항 관계 인사들이 참석한 가운데 간단한 취항식이 거행됐다고 했다.

플라이강원 관계자는 “강원도 양양과 전라남도 여수를 잇는 항공역사상 최초로 운항하는 뜻깊은 날이며, 이날을 기다려온 두 도시간 많은 분들의 관심과 성원으로 취항 첫편은 왕복 거의 만석으로 운항하였다”며 “또한 취항이 시작된 2월 예약율이 80%에 육박하고 있어 양 도시간의 여행기대와 수요가 높다는 것이 입증되었다”고 말했다.
