[김현우 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 동해시는 환경경영체제(EMS)에 관한 국제규격에 따라 업무추진과정에서 발생하는 환경상의 악영향을 최소화하고, 지속가능한 발전을 위해 계획부터 개선까지 전 과정에서 환경행정이 이루어지도록 하는 관리운영체계를 마련해 추진한다고 밝혔다.

동해시는 「원칙에 충실한 신뢰행정으로 지속가능 환경가치 창출」이라는 비전아래 「안전하고 행복한 친환경 명품도시 동해」조성을 목표로 설정하고, 시정업무 전반에 걸쳐 전 부서 조직원의 참여와 협조, 경영자의 지속적인 관심과 환경개선을 통해 시민이 체감하는 친환경행정을 구현할 방침이라고 전했다.

이에, 시정업무별 환경 측면을 분석하고 사업 추진 시 발생할 수 있는 환경 리스크 관리를 통해 시민 불편을 최소화하고 지속적 모니터링과 피드백으로 성과관리를 진행할 계획이며, 국제표준화기구(ISO) ISO14001 인증을 바탕으로 시민의 요구와 기대에 부응하는 지속가능한 사회 환경을 만들어 나갈 예정이라고 했다.

박상형 환경과장은 “환경경영시스템을 통해 시민에 신뢰받고 긍정적 변화를 추구하는 행정 실천으로 친환경 미래도시 조성에 최선의 노력을 다하겠다”고 밝혔다.

한편, 동해시는 2008년 국제표준화기구(ISO) ISO14001 인증을 최초 획득했으며, 3년마다 재인증 심사를 거쳐 현재까지 이어오고 있다고 전했다.
