[김일웅 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 지난달 27일 의정부시의회 김현주 의원은 고양시 일산서구 제2킨텍스에서 개최한 「제159차 경기도시·군의회의장협의회 정례회의」에서 ‘의정연구발전분야’최우수의원으로 선정됐다고 전했다.

경기도시군의회의장협의회에서 주관한 ‘의정발전 우수의원’ 표창은 도내 31개 시군의회 기초의원을 대상으로 적극적인 지방의정 활동을 펼쳐 지역사회 및 지방자치 발전 등에 공헌한 의원을 선발하여 수여하고 있다고 했다.

김현주 의원은 제8대 의정부시의회 의원으로 후반기 도시건설위원장으로 활발한 의정활동을 펼쳤으며, 「의정부시 교통유발부담금에 관한 조례 일부개정조례안」, 「의정부시 향토문화재 보호 조례 일부개정조례안」,「의정부시 소셜미디어의 관리 및 운영에 관한 일부개정조례안」 등의 조례안 발의와 5분 자유발언을 통해 경기북부 순환철도망 구축 및 스마트 모빌리티 사업 등 시민이동 편의증진를 위한 정책 대안을 제시한 점이 높은 평가를 받았다고 했다.

김현주 의원은 수상소감을 통해 “오직 시민을 위해 열심히 노력하며 펼친 의정활동인데 귀한 상을 받게 되어 기쁘다” 며 “앞으로도 시민들과의 약속을 지키기 위해 처음 그 마음을 잊지 않고 더욱 열심히 활동하겠다”고 말했다.

한편 이번 시상은 코로나19 확산 방지를 위하여 별도의 시상식 없이 의정부시의회 오범구 의장이 3일 의원정담회에서 표창패를 자체 전수하는 것으로 간략하게 진행했다고 했다.
