[김현우 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 동해시가 효과적인 산불재난 대응을 위해 산불방지 대책을 마련·추진한다고 밝혔다.

동해시는 산불방지 총력대응을 통해 탄소흡수원인 산림을 보호하고 기후변화에 대비하는 것을 목표로, 올 한해 철저한 대비·예방·진화·대응·홍보 등 단계별 전략을 마련했다고 전했다.

우선, 산불 취약시기인 봄철(2.1.~5.15.)과 가을철(11.1.~12.15.) 산불조심기간을 설정하고, 각종 연휴, 청명·한식 등 주요 취약시기에는 특별대책을 마련해 추진할 방침이라고 했다. 

부시장을 본부장으로 하는 동해시 산불방지대책본부를 운영하고, 각종 대책수립과 국유림관리소, 소방서 등 유관기관 간 협조체계를 구축해 사전 예방 활동과 산불발생 시 현장대응력을 강화하기로 했다고 전했다.

또, 취약지에 대해 산불감시원 90여명을 선발·배치하고, 신속한 초동진화를 위해 50여명의 산불전문예방진화대 및 진화헬기·차량도 확보해 운영한다고 했다.

특히, 지난해 강원도 전체 화재의 40% 이상이 입산자 실화 및 소각 실화였던 만큼, 산불방지에 대한 자발적인 시민문화가 형성되도록 주요 시기별 적극적인 시민 홍보를 실시할 계획이라고 했다.

심정교 녹지과장은 “산불방지 대응태세를 확립해 산불재난에 실질적으로 대비를 실시하는 한편, 상황 발생 시 체계적인 초동대응으로 산불 피해를 최소화하도록 하겠다”고 말했다.
