석면 슬레이트에 대한 시민들의 처리 부담 해소와 불법 투기를 예방하기 위해 총사업비 4억 8천만 원(국비 2억 4천, 도비 4천 7백, 시비 1억9천)으로 추진되고, 지원대상은 지붕 및 벽체가 슬레이트로 된 건축물 소유자이며, 건축물대장 또는 건축물 과세대장에 등재된 건축물로, 건축물 소재 읍면동 주민센터에 신청서, 건축물대장 또는 과세대장, 건축물 사진을 함께 제출하면 된다고 했다.

지원기준은 주택 최대 352만 원, 비주택(창고, 축사 등)은 500만 원까지이며 이와는 별도로 취약계층을 대상으로 한 지붕개량은 최대 1,000만 원 한도까지 지원을 받을 수 있다고 했다.
