[김일중 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 지난 1월 24일 동두천농업협동조합이 동두천농협 2층 대회의실에서 글로벌 인재육성 장학금 1억9백5십만원을 전달하며 지역사회 공헌에 앞장섰다고 밝혔다.

동두천농협은 동두천 지역 학생들이 학업에 전념할 수 있도록 교육환경을 조성하고, 지속가능한 미래농업 글로벌 인재를 육성하고자 동두천농협 조합원 자녀 고등학생 43명과 대학생 44명, 총 87명을 선발하여 따뜻한 마음을 담은 장학금을 전달했다고 했다.

정진호 조합장은 “코로나19로 어려움을 겪고 있는 지역 조합원 자녀를 대상으로 장학금을 지원하여 경제적 부담없이 학업에 집중하며 학업의욕을 고취시켜 농촌과 농업을 사랑하는 지역인재를 육성하겠다”고 말했다.
