주로 취락지 및 관광구역 등 토지 활용도가 높은 지역을 중심으로 해제되어 최근 국방개혁으로 더욱 어려움을 겪는 평화지역(철원, 화천, 양구, 인제, 고성) 주민들의 불편을 해소하고, 재산권 보호에 크게 도움이 될 전망이라고 했다.

강원도 최복수 행정부지사는 “2022년에도 기업유치 및 관광개발 구역, 취락지역 등을 중심으로 군사규제 개선이 필요한 과제를 집중 발굴하여 추진할 계획”이라고 말했다.
