금번 지역개발계획 변경안은 정선군이 아리랑 클러스터 기반시설 구축사업(가칭 : 아라리교) 등 지역의 각종 현안 사업을 발굴하여 국비지원을 통해 사업의 속도를 내고자 추진하고자 하는 사업이 포함되었으며, 아울러 성장촉진지역은 정부가 국가균형발전 차원에서 지역의 발전을 지원하기 위해 5년 주기로 인구감소와 재정 여건 등의 상황을 평가하여 지원이 필요한 지방의 시·군을 지정하고 있으며, 정선군은 지난 2019년 신규로 편입되었다고 전했다.
