소풍길은 의정부시를 에워싸고 있는 원도봉산·사패산·홍복산·천보산·수락산 등 시외곽 대구간 6개 코스와 중랑천·부용천 등 시내를 가로지르는 소구간 3개 코스로 구성되어 있으며, 소풍길 야생화 이야기 강좌는 성인반과 아동반으로 나눈 연령별 맞춤화 수업으로 성인이 혼자 심화 수업으로 즐길 수도 있고 온가족이 다함께 자연 해설과 함께하는 숲길 나들이를 즐길 수도 있다고 했다.

 

소풍길을 계절별로 답사하며 다양한 야생화와 식물 등 생태 환경에 대해 알아보는 ‘소풍길 야생화 이야기’는 정보도서관의 특화 프로그램으로 자리매김하고 있다고 전했다.

 

2012년 4월 처음 실시한 ‘소풍길 야생화 이야기’는 올해까지 성인반 2천428명, 아동반 879명 등 총 누적 참여자수 3천307명을 대상으로 130회의 프로그램을 진행, 기존 문화강좌와 연계해 의정부 관내의 대표 명소인 소풍길을 테마로 봄·여름·가을에 걸쳐 특화 강좌로 성장했다고 했다.

운영 초에는 명상의 길로 한정된 탐방코스를 명상의 길·불로장생길·산림욕길·부용길 등 다양한 탐방로를 강좌 코스로 지정하여 시민들이 다양한 자연 생태 환경 속에서 우리 고장의 아름다움을 느낄 수 있도록 했고, 또한 강좌 운영에 있어 수강생의 의견을 반영하여 언덕길이 많은 부용길에서 다소 완만한 쌍둥이길로 산책 구간을 변경하는 등 탄력적인 운영 방식을 통해 만족도를 높였다고 했다.
