[김일웅 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 12월 9일 북부지방산림청은 인제지역 숲길을 활성화하고 이용객에게 안전한 숲길 환경과 고품질 체험 프로그램 등을 제공하기 위해 추진 중인 2021년 숲길 운영·관리 사업 최종보고회를 북부지방산림청 대회의실에서 개최했다고 밝혔다.

북부지방산림청은 인제지역 관내 백두대간트레일 101km, DMZ트레일 21.5km, 약수숲길 38km 등 총 160.5km의 숲길을 한국등산트레킹지원센터에 위탁 운영·관리하고 있으며 노면 보수, 풀베기, 환경 정화 등을 통해 안전하고 쾌적한 숲길 환경을 제공하고 있다고 전했다.

이용객이 방문하는 숲길 안내센터 또한 청결을 유지하고 홍보물 등을 적절하게 비치하고 있으며 출입자 발열체크 및 명부 관리 등 철저한 코로나-19 방역 실시로 이용객이 안심하고 방문할 수 있도록 관리하고 있다고 했다.

올해는 숲길 이용 동기 부여를 위한 백두대간트레일 스탬프 투어 시설물 설치, 이용객 중심의 백두대간트레일 안내 리플릿 리뉴얼, 지역주민 소득 창출을 위한 공동사업(숲밥체험) 연계 숲길 프로그램 운영 등을 통해 연 30,000여명의 숲길 이용객에게 원활한 숲길 서비스를 제공했다고 했다.

이번 최종보고회에서는 북부지방산림청, 인제국유림관리소, 위탁기관 등 숲길 관계자들이 참석한 가운데, 숲길 운영·관리 사업 결과와 보완 사항, 효율적인 숲길 운영·관리를 위한 향후 추진 방향 등을 집중 논의했다고 했다.

특히, 백두대간트레일과 DMZ트레일은 지난 5월「산림휴양법」등 관련 법규에 의거 산림휴양자원으로서의 가치를 인정받아 최초 국가숲길로 지정됨에 따라 대한민국을 대표하는 숲길로 운영·관리함과 동시에 지역경제 활성화 기여에 큰 도움이 될 것이라고 관계자는 말했다.

최수천 북부지방산림청장은 “인제지역은 남북의 백두대간과 동서의 DMZ가 교차하는 산림생태적 및 역사·문화적으로 매우 중요한 지역이다.”라며, “이번 보고회를 통해 도출된 사항들을 세밀하게 검토하여 2021년 숲길 운영·관리 사업이 성공적으로 마무리되도록 만전을 기하겠다.”라고 말했다.
