[김현우 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 지난 11월 5일 의정부시 녹양동 주민센터는 휴먼시아 3~4단지 앞 (녹양동-415-2) 줄장미 화단에 황금조팝 식재 공사를 완료했다고 밝혔다.

녹양동은 지난 4월 The G&B City사업의 일환으로 휴먼시아 3~4단지 인도변에 줄장미를 심어 화려하고 아름다운 도심경관을 연출한 바 있으며, 이번 가을에는 사업의 연장선으로 줄장미 하단에 황금조팝 870주를 식재하여 완성도를 높였다고 했다.

황금조팝은 다년초 식물로서 해를 거듭할수록 더욱 풍성해지며 화단 내에 잡초가 생성되는 것을 막아 주고, 또한 아름다운 색상의 잎사귀로 인해 기능적인 효과뿐만이 아니라 도심경관 개선 등 심미적인 효과도 높일 것으로 예상된다고 했다.

의정부시 녹양동장은 “아름다운 장미와 화사한 황금조팝의 조합으로 거리변이 더 쾌적하고 아름답게 가꾸어져 시민들의 눈을 즐겁게 해줄 것으로 보인다. 주민들의 눈길이 닿는 곳 어디든지 세심하게 살펴 녹양동을 더 푸르고 아름답게 가꿀 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다.”고 밝혔다.
