이번 기본계획 변경을 통해 신천공공 및 호명소규모공공하수처리시설 증설사업의 국비 지원사업 확보를 위한 기틀을 마련하게 되었으며, 2022년 신규 국고보조사업으로 선정 시 2025년 말 준공을 목표로 사업을 추진할 예정이라고 전했다. 

하수도정비 기본계획 부분변경 승인 주요내용은 '신천공공하수처리시설의 용량 기존 2,600톤/일에서 4,200톤/일로 증설 및 신규 오수관로 39.818㎞에 설치(총사업비 46,302백만원)', '호명소규모공공하수처리시설의 용량기존 80톤/일에서 370톤/일로 증설 및 신규 오수관로 10.57㎞ 설치(총사업비 11,263백만원)', '공공하수처리구역의 확대(신천 4.431㎢⇒6.823㎢, 호명 0.318㎢⇒0.457㎢)이라고 했다.

신천 및 호명공공하수처리구역은 관광객, 휴양시설의 증가와 서울-양양고속도로의 개통으로 인한 유입인구의 증가로 발생하수량이 많아짐에 따라 처리장 공정부하 등 원활한 하수 처리가 힘든 실정이었으나 이번 하수도정비 기본계획 부분변경에 처리장 용량 증설이 반영됨으로서 향후 원활한 처리장 운영을 도모할 수 있게 되었다고 했다. 

또한 이전까지 공공하수도가 보급되지 않았던 설악면 회곡리, 사룡리 일원과 고성리 양진말 일원의 관로 신설계획 반영은 물론 기존 미보급지역에 대한 공공하수처리구역 확대로 하수도 보급률 증대에 박차를 가하게 되었고, 이로인해 신천 및 호명처리구역 일대의 적정한 하수처리로 가평군 수질보전은 물론 한강수계 수질개선을 도모하여 수도권 주민들에게 보다 맑은 물을 제공할 수 있게 되었다고 전했다.

가평군에서는 앞으로도 군 도시개발계획에 발맞춘 하수도기본계획 수립으로 지역주민의 개발 수요에 부응할 수 있도록 관내 공공하수도 확충사업에 만전을 기하도록 할 것이라고 했다.
