가평군은 추석 연휴기간 가평추모공원 폐쇄에 따라 추석 명절 전 미리 성묘하기를 홍보하여 추모객들의 전향적인 협조를 구하며, 보건복지부 e하늘추모·성묘서비스을 통한 온라인 성묘도 이용 가능함을 안내하는 등 추모객들의 불편함을 최소화 하고 있다고 했다.  

이는 코로나-19 지속 확산과 수도권 거리두기 4단계 연장에 따른 조치로 군민의 안전과 코로나 예방 및 확산방지를 위해 적극 협조하여 줄 것을 추모공원 방문객들에게 요청했다고 했다. 

가평군은 “코로나19 사태가 장기화 되며 두 번째 맞이하는 추석명절이라 그동안 찾아뵙지 못해 더욱 안타까운 가족들의 마음에 공감한다.”면서 “한 달 연장된 거리두기 단계를 잘 지켜 하루 빨리 대면하실 수 있도록 만전을 기하겠다.”고 밝혔다.

한편, 지난 2019년 11월 가평읍 읍내리 산125번지에 조성된 공설 가평추모공원은 잔디장과 봉안담 등 총 5,550기를 안치할 수 있는 규모로 조성된 친환경 장사시설로, 전문적인 운영관리를 통해 유가족에게 신뢰받는 도심 속 자연장사시설로 자리 잡아 운영되고 있다고 했다.
