[김일웅 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 26일 북부지방산림청은 관내 산림재해 및 휴양 분야 산악기상정보 제공을 위해 산악기상관측망을 추가 설치(10개소)하여 전 개소 완료함에 따라 “산악기상관측망 구축사업 준공식”을 개최하였다고 밝혔다.

산악지역에 설치되어 있는 산악기상관측시설은 북부청 관내 90개소가 운영되고 있으며 측정된 정보는 산사태정보시스템과 연계하여 산림재해를 보다 정확히 예측해 인명 및 재산 피해를 줄이는 데 활용된다고 했다.

북부지방산림청은 산악기상정보를 정확히 파악하여 국민들에게 실시간으로 산악날씨를 제공함과 동시에 산림청·국립자연휴양림·국방부 협력으로 재해방지를 통해 대국민뿐만 아니라 휴양객 및 장병들의 안전도 도모하고 있다고 전했다.

한편, 산악기상관측시설은 태풍 내습 전 설치 완료하여 산림재해로 인한 인명 및 재산 피해 예방은 물론 적극 재정집행을 통해 코로나19로 어려운 지역경제 활성화에도 기여하고 있다고 했다.

최수천 북부지방산림청장은 “국민께 고품질의 산악기상정보를 제공하여 산림재해는 물론 안전하고 쾌적한 산악활동을 통하여 국민행복지수를 높일 수 있도록 최선을 다할 것”이라고 말했다.
