[장선희 기자 = 경기북부] 지난 8일 (사)경기도여성단체협의회 동두천시지회는 동두천시 시민평화공원 내 '평화의 소녀상' 앞에서 청소 봉사활동을 실시했다고 밝혔다.

이날 청소에는 동두천시 14개 여성단체 중 대한적십자사 경기도지사 동두천지구협의회 엔젤봉사회 홍미선 회장을 비롯한 역대 엔젤봉사회장 5명과 여성단체 임원 3명 등 8명이 참여하여, 시민평화공원 내 쓰레기를 줍고, 평화의 소녀상에 쌓여 있는 꽃가루와 미세먼지를 닦았다고 했다.    

지난 2월 정기총회에서 제20대 동두천시 여성단체 회장직에 취임한 이유화 회장은 14개 여성단체가 매월 1회씩 순번제로 소녀상 및 시민평화공원을 청소하며, 동두천시 여성의 권익향상을 위한 활동에 협조와 상생을 함께하기로 협의하고, 그 협의사항을 실천하고 있다고 했다.    

청소를 마친 후 이유화 회장은 소녀상에 카네이션을 헌화하며 역사적 의미를 되새기는 시간을 갖고, 청소에 참여한 엔젤봉사단체 회원들에게 감사의 인사를 전했다고 말했다.
