[장선희 기자 = 경기북부] 지난 5일 (사)경기도여성단체협의회 동두천시지회는 현충일을 하루 앞 둔 동두천시 시민평화공원 내 '평화의 소녀상' 앞에서 청소 봉사활동을 실시했다고 밝혔다.

이날 청소에는 동두천시 14개 여성단체 중 바르게살기운동 동두천시 여성회 황화순 회장을 비롯한 바르게살기운동 여성회원 6명과 여성단체 임원 등 9명이 참여하여, 시민평화공원 내 쓰레기를 줍고, '평화의 소녀상'에 쌓여 있는 꽃가루와 먼지를 털어냈다고 말했다.

동두천시 여성단체 제20대 이유화 회장은 “14개 동두천시 여성단체가 상호 배려와 화합으로 지역사회와 함께 발전하길 바란다”며, 휴일임에도 지역 봉사활동에 참여한 회원들에게 감사의 인사를 전했다.    

한편, 바르게살기운동 동두천시 여성회 황화순 회장은 “현충일을 앞두고 우리 민족의 역사적 상징물인 '평화의 소녀상'을 청소하니, 봉사단체로 자긍심을 느낀다”며, 밝고 건강한 지역사회를 만드는데, 지역의 여성단체로서 동두천시 여성단체와 함께 노력하겠다”고 화답했다.
