[장선희 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 지난 16일, 동두천시는 동두천 자연휴양림 세미나실에서 '2022년 제1회 도시숲 등의 조성·관리심의위원회'를 개최했다고 밝혔다.

동두천시 도시숲 등의 조성·관리 심의위원회는 지난 2020년 구성됐으며, 조경·생태·산림 등 분야별 전문가 16명으로 구성되어 있고, 도시숲 등의 조성·관리 심의위원회는 도시숲 계획의 수립 및 변경, 지역적 특성을 살린 도시숲 등의 조성·관리 시책 개발, 관련 사업의 계획·설계, 주민 참여 활성화 방안 등을 심의하는 위원회라고 전했다.

이날 위원회는 심의위원, 관계 공무원 등이 참석한 가운데 도시숲 등의 조성·관리 심의위원회 위촉장 수여식, 인사말, 2022년 동두천시 미세먼지 차단숲 조성사업 계획(안)에 대한 자문 등의 순으로 진행됐으며, 특히 자문내용은 미세먼지 차단에 효율적인 수종 선정과 숲구조 계획, 고사수목에 대한 친환경적 이용, 식재 전 토양개량처리 등에 대해 의견을 나눴으며 향후 조성사업 계획에 반영될 예정이라고 했다.

동두천시 관계자는 “올해 미세먼지 차단숲 조성사업을 효과적으로 조성하는 것뿐만 아니라 저탄소 녹색성장의 탄소중립도시를 위해 가로수 숲길 조성사업, 쌈지공원 조성사업 등 다양한 도시숲 관련 사업을 추진하여 생활 속에서 시민들이 체감할 수 있는 환경친화적 도시를 조성하기 위해 노력할 것”이라고 전했다.
