[김현우 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 강릉시는 부족한 체육시설 확충 및 시민 복지향상을 위하여 유천동 777번지 일원에 강릉 복합복지 체육센터 건립사업을 추진하고 있다고 밝혔다. 

강릉 복합복지 체육센터는 2019년 3월 생활밀착형 국민체육센터 장애인형 공모사업에 선정됐으며, 민선8기 공약사항인 장애인 문화복지 지원센터 연계사업으로 총사업비 154억(국 51억 도 3억 시 100억)을 투입하여 지역 내 어린이, 장애인, 노인 등 다양한 시민층이 1회 방문으로 맞춤형서비스를 제공 받을 수 있는 공간을 조성할 계획이다.

사업규모는 건축면적 2,178.10㎡, 연면적 4,337.73㎡ 지하1층, 지상2층으로, 해당 시설물 내 장애인체육관, 작은도서관, 생활문화센터, 건강생활지원센터, 육아종합지원센터, 다함께돌봄센터를 포함한 총 6개의 공간이 마련될 예정이다.

해당사업은 올 8월 시공사가 선정되어 현재 착공신고 중이며, 이달부터 본격적으로 추진해 ‘2024년 6월 준공을 목표로 하고 있다. 

강릉시 관계자는 “본 사업을 통해 일반시민부터 아동, 임산부, 장애인들의 삶의 질을 개선하고, 정신적·심리적 치료를 통해 소외감을 해소하는 등 시민들에게 양질의 서비스를 제공 할 수 있을 것으로 기대한다”고 밝혔다.
