[김현우 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 원주시는 남원주역세권 동측진입도로인 대로2-11호선 확포장공사가 오는 6월 24일부터 시작된다고 밝혔다.

이번 공사는 판부면 서곡리 가스충전소에서 거장아파트 삼거리를 경유, 남원주역세권까지 전체 연장 0.67km 구간을 왕복 2차선에서 4차선으로 확장하는 사업이고, 총사업비 107억 원을 투입하며, 2023년 10월 준공을 목표로 한다고 했다.

원주시는 지난해 원주역 이전 개통 후 차량 통행량이 늘어나 출퇴근 교통 불편이 이어지고 있고, 2023년 역세권개발사업 준공도 앞두고 있어 해당 구간의 도로 확장공사를 추진하게 됐다고 전했다.

진입도로 확장공사가 완료되면 원주역과 역세권을 이용하는 시민들의 교통편의가 크게 향상될 것으로 기대하고 있다고 전했다.

신창섭 균형개발과장은 “확장공사로 인해 차량 통행에 불편함이 있더라도 시민 여러분의 양해와 협조를 부탁드린다.”라며, “빠른 시일 내에 공사를 완료할 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다.”라고 말했다.
