이번 사업은 강릉시 대표 음식에 대한 다국어 지원으로 외국인 관광객의 편리성을 도모하고, 대표 음식의 대외적 인지도를 향상시키기 위함이며, 관내 음식점(일반,휴게,제과) 400개소를 대상으로 한국어·영어·중국어·일본어·러시아어로 제작된 메뉴판이 지원될 예정이라고 했다. 

외국어 메뉴판 지원사업의 참가를 원하는 음식업소는 강릉시보건소 위생과에 현장 접수 등을 통하여 신청할 수 있으며, 신청 업소가 400개소를 초과할 시에는 한식 메뉴 비율, 인증음식점여부, 관광지 인접성, 영업기간 등의 우선순위에 따라 선정될 예정이라고 전했다.

강릉시 관계자는“외국인 관광객들의 방문이 증가할 것으로 예상됨에 따라 이번 지원사업을 통해 강릉시 대표 음식에 대한 정보를 효과적으로 전달하고 대외적인 관심도를 높여 강릉의 관광품질을 높이는데 기여 할 것으로 기대된다”라고 말했다.
