[김일웅 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 지난 20일 북부지방산림청은 현대백화점그룹 및 (사)생명의숲과 탄소중립 활동과 ESG 경영 실천 캠페인-탄소중립의 숲 조성 기념식을 가졌다고 밝혔다.

탄소중립의 숲 조성 기념식은 탄소중립 활동과 ESG 경영 실천의 일환으로 현대백화점 그룹의 탄소중립의 숲 조성을 기념하고자, 북부지방산림청과 현대백화점 그룹, (사)생명의 숲이 경기도 용인시 일대에서 개최했다고 했다.

북부지방산림청과 현대백화점 그룹, (사)생명의 숲은 지난 3월 기념식이 개최된 경기도 용인시 처인구 백암면 박곡리 산3번지를 대상으로 약 14.4ha 면적에 2022년부터 2027년까지 온실가스를 감축하고 탄소 저감을 실현하기 위한 시민참여형 탄소중립의 숲 조성 공동산림사업 협약을 체결했다고 전했다.

이날 기념식에는 산림청, 현대백화점, 현대리바트, 생명의 숲 등 관계자 30명 내외가 참석했으며, 전나무 기념식수 식재, 말풍선 피켓팅 및 기념 사진 촬영 등의 행사를 진행했다고 했다.  

최수천 북부지방산림청장은 “탄소중립 활동 캠페인을 통해 많은 시민들이 참여하여 기후 위기에 경각심을 가지고, 탄소중립 실현에 한걸음 다가갈 수 있기를 기대한다.”고 말했다.
