[김일웅 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 강원경찰청에서는 70여년 간 도내 치안을 책임진 강원경찰의 시대별 주요 사건사고 및 치안활동 활약상을 담은 ‘강원경찰 70년史’를 발간했다고 밝혔다. 

지난 21년도 제76주년 경찰의날 기념행사 후 진행됐던 ‘강원경찰 그때를 아십니까’ 사진 전시회가 직원 및 외부인사들로부터 큰 호응을 얻어 후속작으로 기획·제작된 이번 ‘강원경찰 70년史’ 화보집은 약 3개월간의 집필 기간을 거쳐 총 237페이지 분량, 1940년대부터 2010년대까지 연도별 총 8개의 테마로 구성됐다고 했다.

광복 이후 사회 혼란기에 나라를 지켜냈던 호국경찰의 활약상부터현대사회의 각종 범죄와 재난으로부터 국민의 생명·신체·재산을 지키기 위한 강원경찰의 노력들을 한권에 담아낸 이번 화보집은 강원경찰의 시대별 다양한 발자취를 담아 강원경찰의 역사적 정체성을 재조명하고 새로운 도약을 통해 나아갈 길을 보여주는 거울의 역할을 하게 될 전망이라고 했다.

최종문 강원경찰청장은 “이번 강원경찰 70년史 화보집은 조국 광복 이후 현재까지 도민의 안전과 소중한 일상을 지켜낸 선배 경찰관들의 활약상, 숭고한 희생정신과 그간의 다양한 치안활동이 담겨있으며, 앞으로도 70년의 역사를 거울 삼아 더 나은 치안 서비스로 도민의 신뢰와 지지에 보답해 나갈 계획이다.” 라고 밝혔다.
