[김현우 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 강릉시는 대관령 어흘리 관광지(지정관광지) 일원의 산림관광 활성화를 위하여, 관광지 내에「어흘리 산림관광 안내센터」신축을 완료하고 정상 운영에 들어간다고 밝혔다.

2014년도에 163천㎡를 관광지로 지정받은 대관령 어흘리 관광지는 도로, 주차장, 안내소, 화장실 등의 공공편익시설을 비롯하여 트리하우스, 게스트하우스 등 숙박 ․ 휴양문화시설 등을 짜임새 있게 조성할 계획으로 현재까지 강원도 관광자원개발사업 선정에 따른 국․도비 16억여 원 등 총 58억여 원이 투입되어 도로, 교량, 주차장 등은 조성되었고 이번 안내센터를 추가 조성함으로써 주요시설 대부분 완료된 상황이라고 했다.

「어흘리 산림관광 안내센터(삼포암길 17)」는 2019년부터 2021년까지 2년간 사업비 총 10억 원을 들여 연면적 221.97㎡, 지상 1층 규모로 신축됐으며, 내부에는 공중화장실과 안내소, 외부에는 대규모 공영주차장 등이 함께 조성됨으로써 인근의 대관령 박물관, 치유의 숲, 대관령 소나무숲길, 대관령 옛길, 강릉의 걷는 길 등 다양한 산림자원 콘텐츠와 연계되어 여행자들에게 편의를 제공하게 될 것으로 기대된다고 했다.

한편 지난해 12월, 강릉시와 동부지방산림청은 대관령 권역의 산림관광 활성화 및 안내센터의 효율적인 운영을 위하여 상호 적극적인 협력을 약속하는 업무협약(비대면)을 체결했으며, 이에 따라 동부지방산림청의 전문인력(숲길등산지도사 등 약 5명)이 2월경부터 배치되어 숲길 안내 등의 주된 역할을 수행한다고 했다.
