현재 오죽헌시립박물관, 선교장, 대도호부관아, 경포대, 허균허난설헌기념공원, 대관령박물관 총 6개소에 문화관광해설사를 배치해 운영하고 있으며, 추후 문화관광해설사와 함께하는 도보 투어 프로그램도 개발하여 운영할 계획이라고 했다.

또한, 강릉시는 전문적인 해설을 제공하는 23명의 문화관광해설사가 활동 중이며, 해설사의 역량 강화를 위해 타지역 문화유적지 및 관내 신규 관광지 답사 등 지속적인 교육을 실시할 예정이라고 전했다.

특히 지난 24일 원주 오크밸리리조트에서 진행된‘강원도 문화관광해설사 스토리텔링경진대회’에서는 선교장을 주제로 참가한 강릉의 최광순 해설사가 은상을 수상하여 해설능력을 인정받았다고 했다.
