이번 원산지단속은 설 명절 전인 오는 28일까지, 정월대보름 전인 2월 8일부터 2월 14일까지 두 차례에 걸쳐 8명 3개 반의 단속반을 편성하여 이루어지며, 코로나로 인한 소비패턴 변화에 맞추어 수요가 많아질 것으로 예상되는 과일, 농·축·수산물 등 제수용 농산물과 선물용품에 대해 대형유통업체, 마트 등을 대상으로 중점 단속한다고 했다.

단속 항목은 원산지의 표시유무 및 표시방법 등의 적정성, 원산지 허위표시, 농‧특산물 손상·변경, 유통기한의 경과 등을 확인하고, 원산지 거짓· 허위표시 등 법률 위반사항에 대해서는 고발 조치하고 원산지 미표시 등 위반사항에 대해서는 과태료를 부과하여 외국산 농특산물이 국산으로 둔갑 유통되는 부정 유통행위를 근절한다고 했다.

강릉시 관계자는“명절 및 정월대보름 전에 실시하는 원산지 표시 위반 단속을 통해 수입 농·축·수산물 둔갑 판매를 근절하고, 시민들이 안심하고 먹을 수 있는 먹거리를 확립하는 데 기여하겠다”라고 말했다.
