[김현우 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 강릉시는 음식물쓰레기 발생량 감소와 주거환경 개선추진을 위하여 가정용 음식물쓰레기처리기 설치비를 지원하는 사업을 추진하고 있다고 밝혔다.

이번 사업에 지원되는 처리기는 하루 약 1~2㎏을 처리하는 규모로 가정 내에 기계를 설치하여 건조·발효 등을 통해 음식물쓰레기를 처리하는 방식으로, 외부 배출량을 감소시키고 쓰레기 보관으로 인한 침출수 누출 및 악취를 예방하는 효과가 있다고 했다.

단, 이번 지원사업에는 공공수역의 수질보호를 위하여 싱크대에 설치하여 분쇄방법으로 하수관을 통하여 배출하는 방식은 공인 인증을 받은 제품이라도 제외되며, 또한, 전용카드를 사용하여 배출하는 RFID 기반 종량제 실시대상인 공동주택 거주자도 지원할 수 없다고 했다.

※RFID란: 무선인식이라고도 하며, 반도체 칩이 내장된 태그(Tag), 라벨(Label), 카드(Card) 등의 저장된 데이터를 무선주파수를 이용해 비접촉으로 읽어내는 인식시스템.

이번 지원사업은 총 사업비 1억 원(보조금 5천만 원, 자부담 5천만 원)이며, 약 100대 분량으로 1세대당 한도 50만 원의 범위 내에서 설치비의 50%을 보조금 형태로 지원하고 나머지 50%는 자부담으로 이루어진다고 했다. 

신청자격은 강릉시에 주소를 두고 실제 거주하는 강릉시민이면 누구나 신청할 수 있으나 1세대당 1대로 제한을 두고 있다고 전했다.

예산의 범위 내에서 선착순으로 사업신청 접수 중이며 보조사업이 확정되면 자부담으로 우선 구매 후 강릉시의 확인을 받으면 구매비의 50%를 지원받게 된다고 했다. 

김준회 자원순환과장은“이번 사업은 음식물쓰레기 배출량을 감소시켜 배출장소와 가정 내의 주거환경을 개선시킬 수 있다며 사업의 효과를 분석하여 향후 규모를 확대시킬 계획”이라고 밝혔다.
