[김일중 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 지난 12월 27일 포천시는 한탄강 세계지질공원센터에서 열린 ‘2021 한탄강 유네스코 세계지질공원 국제 학술회의’를 성황리에 개최했다고 밝혔다.

이번 학술회의는 실질적인 지역발전과 지역주민의 활용방안을 모색하기 위해 ‘지속가능한 발전을 위한 한탄강 지질공원과 지역공동체 활성화 방안’이라는 주제로 진행됐으며, 코로나19 방역지침 준수하에 유튜브 온라인 생중계도 진행됐고, ‘포천시청’과 ‘geopark tv’ 유튜브 채널에서 다시 시청할 수 있다고 했다.

1부에서는 유네스코 지속가능발전목표 ‘SDGs’와 각 지질공원의 운영사례에 대해 유네스코 한국위원회 김귀배 본부장이, 일본 시코쿠세요 지질공원 운영사례에 대해 가토 유야 노야마컴퍼니 대표가, 에콰도르 세계지질공원 운영사례에 대해 페트리샤 렝겔 지질전문가가 각각 발표하는 자리를 가졌다고 했다.

2부에서는 포천시청 최동원 학예사와 고사리 협동조합 김미희 대표이사가 포스트 코로나 시대 지향점과 한탄강 세계지질공원 적용사례에 대해 발표했으며, 3부에서는 강원대 우경식 명예교수를 좌장으로 박혜영 화성시 생태관광협동조합 상임이사와 염인정 포천시 한사랑교육공동체 대표가 학술회의에 제시된 내용을 바탕으로 지질공원과 지역공동체의 지속가능발전에 대한 토론과 발제를 이어갔다고 했다.

포천시 관계자는 “각국의 지질공원 운영사례를 통해 지질공원과 지역공동체가 함께 고민하며 새로운 방향성을 고민하는 뜻깊은 시간이었다.”라며 “이번 학술회의를 통해 한탄강 세계지질공원의 지속가능한 발전을 위해 추구해야 할 방향과 미래 비전을 수립하는 데 큰 도움이 되었다.”라고 밝혔다.
