[김일웅 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 북부지방산림청은 2021년 5월에 국가숲길로 최초 지정된 인제지역 백두대간트레일 중 DMZ트레일의 시범 운영을 위해 인제군 서화면 심적리 구간에서 정기행사를 개최했다고 밝혔다.

심적리 구간은 남북을 연결하는 백두대간트레일과 동서를 연결하는 DMZ트레일이 만나는 대암산 자락으로 DMZ펀치볼둘레길과도 연결되어 있는 지역이며, 행사 참가자는 20여명으로 약 8km의 숲길을 탐방하면서 숲해설가로부터 지역 스토리텔링을 활용한 숲해설을 들으며 숲길을 탐방하는 방식으로 진행됐다고 했다.

한편, 북부지방산림청은 관할 구역 내 백두대간을 중심으로 역사·문화자원 및 심미적 가치를 발굴하고 연결하는 숲길을 조성하여 백두대간트레일 101km, DMZ트레일 21.5km 등 인제지역 내 총 122.5km의 국가숲길을 체계적으로 운영‧관리하고 있다고 했다.

최수천 북부지방산림청장은 “인제지역 DMZ트레일 시범 운영을 통해 지역 주민과 숲길 이용객들의 의견을 최대한 수렴하여 국가숲길로 운영‧관리되도록 최선을 다하겠다.”라고 말했다.
