[김일중 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 지난 10월 25일 양주시농업기술센터는 경기도농업기술원과 함께 관내 배, 사과 재배 농가를 대상으로 과수화상병 발생 예방을 위한 4차 합동예찰을 실시했다고 밝혔다.

과수화상병은 검역별 해충으로 지정된 금지병해충에 의한 세균병의 일종으로 주로 사과, 배 등 장미과 식물에서 발생하며 감염됐을 경우 식물 조직이 불에 탄 것처럼 붉은 갈색, 검은색으로 변하며 마르는 증상을 보인다고 했다.

이번 합동예찰은 지난해 과수화상병 발생지역인 광적면을 중심으로 반경 2㎞ 내 위험구역에 속한 사과, 배 과수원 등 5농가, 3.3ha에 대해 이뤄졌으며, 예찰 결과 과수화상병으로 의심되는 병징은 발견되지 않았다고 전했다.

양주시는 지난 5월부터 현재까지 총 4회에 걸쳐 농가 88개소, 54.8ha에 대해 정밀예찰을 진행했으며, 지난 2020년 과수화상병 발병 이후 추가 발생이 없었고, 내년에는 과수화상병 발병을 철저하게 예방하기 위해 국가관리 병해충 예찰방제단을 편성·운영하고 과수화상병 예측시스템을 구축하는 등 지역 과수산업 안전 확보에 총력을 기울일 계획이라고 밝혔다. 

센터 관계자는 “과수 농업인에게는 치료제 없는 과수화상병 확산을 방지하는 것이 최우선의 문제인 만큼 주기적인 예찰과 함께 타 과수농가 방문을 자제해 달라”며 “농업기술센터에서도 전염병으로 인한 농가경영 불안을 해소하고 안정적인 영농활동을 보장하기 위해 지속적인 예찰과 방제활동을 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했고, “과수화상병 의심증상이 발견될 경우 그 즉시 양주시 기술지원과 원예작물팀으로 신고해달라”고 당부했다.
