[김현우 기자 = 경기북부] 지난 4월 30일 양주시 회천4동 새마을지도자회는 옥정동 830-4 일원 휴경지에 ‘2021년 휴경지 옥수수 모종 이식 사업’을 실시했다고 밝혔다. 

이날 행사는 황규영 새마을지도자회장, 정용화 새마을부녀회장, 회원 등이 참여한 가운데 경기도 농업기술원에서 개발한 ‘새미찰’, ‘장수흑찰’ 등 옥수수 모종을 이식해 농가소득과 경쟁력 향상을 위해 진행됐다고 했다.

이기호 동장은 “경기도농업기술원과 더불어 옥수수 지역특화사업에 도움을 준 새마을남녀지도자회에 감사하다”며 “지역 경쟁력 강화를 위한 다양한 특화사업을 적극 발굴해 나가겠다”고 말했다.
