[김현우 기자 = 경기북부] 지난 14일 양주시는 경기도농업기술원과 함께 관내 배, 사과 재배 농업인을 대상으로 과수화상병 발생 예방을 위한 합동예찰을 실시했다고 밝혔다. 

과수화상병은 검역별 해충으로 지정된 금지병해충에 의한 세균병의 일종으로 주로 사과, 배 등 장미과 식물에서 발생하며 감염됐을 경우 식물 조직이 불에 탄 것처럼 붉은 갈색, 검은색으로 변하며 마르는 증상을 보인다고 했다.

점검은 지난해 과수화상병 발생지역인 광적면을 중심으로 반경 2km 내 위험구역에 대한 사과, 배 과수원 등 5농가, 3.3ha에 대해 정밀 예찰을 진행했다고 했다. 

양주시는 합동예찰 결과 과수화상병으로 의심되는 병징은 발견되지 않았지만, 잠복기간 후 발현되는 경우도 있어 향후 3차례에 걸쳐 추가 예찰을 진행할 계획이라고 했다.

앞서 과수화상병의 효율적 방제를 위해 지난 3월~5월 각 지역농협경제사업소에서 89개 농가에 사과, 배 과수화상병 약제를 보급했으며 농가에 꽃 피기 전, 개화기 1차, 개화기 2차 총 3회에 걸친 사전방제를 진행했다고 했다.

농업기술센터 관계자는 “병원균 이동을 막기 위해 과수 농업인은 당분간 타 과수농가 방문을 자제해 달라”며 “앞으로도 지속적인 예찰과 방제에 최선을 다하겠으며 과수화상병 의심 증상을 발견했을 경우 즉시 농업기술센터로 신고 당부 드린다”고 전했다.
