[안종욱 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 지난 10월 12일 설악마을공동체는 설악면행정복지센터 신축예정에 따라 청사 일부에 그렸던 벽화 1개를 철거하기 위한 기념식을 가졌다고 밝혔다. 

해당 벽화는 지난 2018년 관내 관광지 활성화 및 지역의 아름다운 마을 만들기의 일환으로 김규태 화백의 재능기부를 통해 제작되었고, 설악면의 과거·현재·미래를 표현한 폭 20m×높이 2.5m 크기의 작품으로 설악면의 행운과 무궁무진한 발전을 기원하는 뜻이 담긴 부엉이 그림과 함께 민원인들의 큰 호응을 얻어 왔다고 했다. 

벽화철거 기념식에는 설악면 이범주 면장, 전 설악면 서태원 면장, 설악마을공동체 김경태 대표, 설악마을공동체 운영위원장 태은사 혜각스님 등 방역수칙에 따라 10명 이내의 최소인원이 참석하였으며 특히 이날 김경태 대표는 관내 공직자들의 노고를 격려하기 위해 ‘다꼬야끼’를 직접 만들어 전달하는 자리와 사단법인 통일사랑교육협의회 가평군지부의 탈북민 가수 축하공연 자리도 마련하였다.

이범주 설악면장은 “자원봉사자와 설악면민이 하나가 되어 만들었던 아름다운 벽화가 철거되어 아쉬움이 남는다. 신축될 청사뿐만 아니라 인근 골목길과 담벼락 등 노후된 지역 환경을 개선시키는데 벽화그리기 사업을 이어나가기를 바란다.”고 전했다. 

이에 설악마을공동체 김경태 대표는 “벽화그리기에 적극적인 참여와 지원을 해주신 서태원 전 설악면장님과 오늘 이 행사를 주최할 수 있도록 도움을 주신 이범주 설악면장님께 감사의 인사를 드리며 아름다운 벽화가 철거되어 아쉬움이 있지만 지역사회와 상생을 위해 앞으로도 지속적인 나눔과 봉사활동을 계속 펼쳐나가겠다.”고 말했다.

또한 소외계층에 남다른 관심을 가지고 있는 김경태 대표는 현재 설악마을공동체 대표, 사단법인 통일사랑교육협의회 가평군지부장, 지역사회보장협의체 위원 등으로 활동하며 각종 자원봉사를 몸소 실천하여 지역사회에 귀감이 되고 있으며 2018년에는 설악면 지역사회보장협의체와 ‘행복의 색 입히기’ 업무협약을 체결하여 자원봉사자들과 함께 학교, 관공서, 소외계층 주거지 등에 벽화 그리기 봉사활동을 실천하고 있다고 했다.
