이번에 결정된 생활임금은 오는 2022년 1월 1일부터 적용되며, 대상은 군과 출자·출연기관이 직접 고용한 소속 근로자고, 단, 공공근로, 지역공동체사업 등과 같이 국비 또는 군비 지원으로 일시 채용된 근로자와 그 밖에 생활임금 이상의 임금을 받고 있는 근로자는 적용을 제외한다고 했다.

가평군 관계자는 “그동안 우리 군의 생활임금이 경기도내 31개 시·군 평균임금에도 크게 미치지 못하고 있어 아쉬웠는데, 내년도 생활임금은 타 지자체의 생활임금 수준과 군 재정상황 등을 고려해 결정하였으며, 2022년 1월부터 인상된 생활임금 적용으로 취약계층의 삶의 질을 향상시키고 지역 경제 활성화에 기여할 수 있기를 기대한다.”고 말했다.

한편, ‘생활임금’이란 최저임금 이상으로서 근로자가 최소한의 인간적·문화적 생활을 가능하게 할 목적으로 지급되는 임금을 말하고, 가평군은 지난 2016년 가평군 생활임금 조례를 제정하여 2017년 6,996원을 시작으로 매년 생활임금을 결정·고시하고 있다고 밝혔다.
