[안종욱 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 가평군이 종합장사시설 건립을 위한 군민 의견수렴을 시작하며, 해마다 화장수요가 증가하고 있지만 가평군에 화장시설, 공설 봉안당이 없어 시간과 비용 측면에서 군민들이 큰 불편을 겪고 있기 때문이라고 밝혔다. 

2018년말 기준 가평군 화장률은 89.4%, 10명중 9명이 화장으로 장례를 치르고 있다고 했다. 그러나 가평군민은 가평군에 화장시설이 없어 화장으로 장례를 치르는 경우 10배가 넘는 비용을 지불하고 성남, 춘천, 인제 등 원정화장을 떠나고 있으며, 화장 후 다시 자연장지, 봉안시설을 찾아 고인을 안치해야하는 불편을 겪고 있는 실정이라고 했다.  

이에 따라 가평군은 원스톱 장례서비스가 가능한 종합장사시설 건립을 위해 인접한 지자체와 양해각서를 체결하고 종합장사시설 건립비용, 시설 운영비를 분담하여 재정절감과 이용률 및 효율성 제고를 위해 가평군 공동형 종합장사시설 건립을 추진한 바 있다고 전했다. 

이번 설문조사에는 화장시설에 대한 주민인식도, 종합장사시설 필요성과 군민이 선호하는 건립형태, 건립 시 우선 고려사항 등 10개 항목의 질문이 들어 있으며,  여론조사 전문기관인 한길리서치에서 오는 8월 26일 ~ 9월 3일까지 가평군민 1,000명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시한다고 했다. 

가평군은 앞으로 지난 7월 개최한 가평군 장사시설 합리적 방향을 위한 미래발전 군민 대토론회 내용과 이번 설문조사 결과를 바탕으로 가평군 주민이 원하는 종합장사시설을 추진할 계획이며, 주민홍보 강화를 통해 오해와 불신을 없애고 군민 의견을 적극 반영하는 등 군민과 지속 소통해 나갈 계획임을 밝혔다.
