[김일웅 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 지난 19일 경기도의회 교육기획위원회 위원장 정윤경 의원은 줌으로 개최된 ‘건강장애학생 교육 지원을 위한 국회 토론회’에 토론자로 참석했다고 밝혔다.

건강장애학생은 특수교육법에 따른 특수교육대상자로서 3개월 이상의 장기입원 또는 통원치료 등 계속적인 의료적 지원이 필요하여 학교생활 및 학업 수행에 어려움이 있는 학생을 말하며, 이번 간담회는 건강장애학생의 동등한 교육기회 보장을 위한 교육 지원체계 마련 및 확대 방안을 마련하기 위하여 개최되었다고 했다.

이 간담회에서 정윤경 의원은 “건강장애학생이 받고 있는 원격수업 학습은 가장 기본적인 교과수업으로만 진행되고 있고 예산이 부족해 교과서 모금활동까지 해야 하는 실정”이라며, “건강장애학생에게 있어 병마보다 더 두려운 것은 다시 학교로 돌아갈 수 있을까 하는 두려움이다”라고 말했다. 

이어서, “2006년에는 단순히 건강장애학생의 유급방지 목적으로만 원격수업이 마련되었지만, 15년이 지난 지금 건강장애학생에게 필요한 것은 다양한 교육활동, 일반학생과 동일하게 교육받을 수 있는 교육 환경 마련”이라며, “그러기 위해서는 지역별 병원학교 지정과 운영을 위한 행·재정적 지원 등 국가적 차원에서의 지원이 우선되어야 한다”고 강조했다. 

또한, “건강장애학생들이 건강을 회복해 성공적으로 학교에 복귀할 수 있도록 경기도의회 교육기획위원장으로서 지속적으로 관심을 가지고 세심하게 살피겠다”고 덧붙였다.

한편, 경기도 내에는 초등학교 232명, 중학교 158명, 고등학교 149명 등 총539명의 건강장애학생이 일반학교에 재학하고 있으며, 경기도교육청에서 꿈사랑학교와 한국교육개발원 스쿨포유에 원격수업을 위탁해 건강장애학생들의 교육을 지원하고 있다.
