산불진화기계화시스템은 우리나라의 급한 경사와 좁은 길 등 험악한 산악지형을 반영하여 먼 거리에 위치한 산불을 신속하고 효율적으로 진화하기 위하여 도입된 시스템으로, 파주 1군단 등 6개 군 사격장 관리부대에 2017년부터 무상대여를 한 이후 매년 주기적인 장비 점검 및 진화 훈련ㆍ교육을 실시하여 왔다.

최수천 북부지방산림청장은 “관ㆍ군 협력을 더욱 강화하여 올해도 지속적인 산불방지 훈련 및 교육을 통해 산불발생과 피해를 최소화하겠으며, 1회성이 아닌 지속적인 반복 훈련ㆍ교육을 통해 산불로부터 인명과 재산 모두를 지켜낼 계획이다.”라고 말했다.
