[김현우 기자 = 포천] 포천시는 지난 18일 신읍동 경기행복마을관리소(이하 신행소) 지킴이와 공룡나라어린이집 아이들 30여 명과 함께 인근 호병골천에서 EM 흙공 던지기 행사를 진행했다고 밝혔다.

작년에 이어 올해도 진행한 EM 흙공 던지기 행사는 신행소 지킴이들이 EM 흙공 500여 개를 하천에 던져 생태하천을 복원시키는 환경정화 운동이다.

EM흙공은 유용한 미생물인 EM활성액을 황토에 배합해 야구공 크기로 만든 흙공덩어리로, 수질을 정화시켜주는 미생물 80여 종이 들어있다. 

이는 하천의 오니층 슬러지를 분해해 악취제거 및 수질정화 등에 탁월한 효과가 있는 것으로 알려져 있다.

포천시 관계자는 “앞으로도 깨끗한 호병골천을 유지하기 위해 지속적으로 환경 캠페인을 실시하고, 미래세대에게 깨끗한 환경을 만들어 주기 위해 노력하겠다”면서 “행복마을관리소를 통해 우리의 작은 실천으로 환경보존 활동을 지속적으로 이어가겠다”고 말했다.

EM흙공 던지기에 참여한 어린이는 “여름에 깨끗한 호병천에서 놀기 위해 우리가 환경을 지키는 것”이라며 즐거웠다고 전했다.

한편, 행복마을관리소는 일자리경제과에서 추진하는 사업으로, 사무원 2명과 지킴이 8명, 총 10명이 5인 1조를 이뤄 평일 오전 8시부터 오후 12시까지 2교대로 근무하고 있다. 

이들은 안심귀가 및 안전한 등하교 서비스, 홀몸 어르신 등 취약계층 지원 서비스, 쓰레기 무단투기 및 방치지역 정화활동, 화재 및 재해 우려지역 안전순찰, 우범지대 치안 및 방범순찰, 도로, 건물 등의 위험요인 발굴 및 신고, 간단한 집수리 주거환경개선 서비스 등 다양한 생활밀착형 공공서비스를 제공한다. 

이외에도 민간단체와 함께 캠페인 활동을 벌이고, 지역 내 다양한 마을공동체 활동할 계획이다.
