[김현우 기자 = 가평] 8일 가평군 농협·축협·산림조합장을 선출하는 ‘제3회 전국동시 조합장선거’가 아침 7시부터 진행되고 있다. 

가평군 내 투표가 이루어지고 있는 곳은 6개 읍·면 농협과 가평군 코로나19 격리자들을 위한 특별투표소(산림조합 가평로컬푸드직매장) 총 7곳이다.

선거 투표는 오후 5시까지 진행될 예정이며, 많은 조합원들이 가평군의 농·축·산림을 책임질 조합장을 직접 뽑기 위해 투표장을 찾고 있다.

현재 가평군 조합장 선거에 도전 의지를 내비친 후보는 농협조합장 후보 2명, 축협조합장 후보 2명, 산림조합장 후보 5명 등 총 9명이다. 이들은 지난달 23일 후보 등록 이후 2주간 치열한 경쟁을 펼쳤다.

먼저 가평군농협은 장동규(60), 최승수(70) 후보가 조합원들의 선택을 기다리고 있다. 

장동규 후보는 전 가평군 농업기술센터 소장을 역임했으며, 현재 바르게살기협의회와 가평문화원 이사 등을 맡고 있다.

최승수 후보는 가나안농원 대표로 가평군 농업인단체 협의회장, 가평군의회 의장 등을 역임했으며, 현 가평군 농협조합장이다.

가평군축협은 남서우(61) 전 가평군농업인 단체협의회 부회장과 조규용(59) 현 조합장이 결과를 기다리고 있다. 

산림조합장에는 임오영(64), 김호명(63), 이종옥(59), 장기명(74), 박호철(67) 후보 등 총 5명이 출사표를 내밀었으며, 투표 결과에 따라 희비가 엇갈릴 전망이다. 

오늘 실시되는 조합장 선거 투표는 오후 5시에 종료되고, 저녁 무렵 당락윤곽이 결정될 것으로 보여진다.

앞으로 4년간 농협·축협·산림조합을 책임지고 이끌어갈 조합장이 누가 될 것인지 주민들의 관심이 쏠리고 있다.
