[김택곤 기자=정선군] 1월 12일부터 14일까지 코엑스에서 열리는 2023 대한민국 교육박람회의 주요 행사인 ‘2022-2023 FIRST LEGO League Korea 대회(이하 FLL)’ 챌린지 부문 본선에 국민고향 정선 지역 청소년으로 구성된 '징검다리스쿨 로봇팀'이 진출했다.

초중등 학생 10명으로 구성된 '징검다리 슈퍼파워'팀은 지난해 12월 온라인으로 진행된 FLL 자율주행 로봇 게임 지역 예선에서 우수한 성적으로 로봇게임상을 수상하며 본선 진출권을 획득했다.

징검다리 로봇팀은 신재생 에너지를 둘러싼 사회 갈등을 해소하는 방안으로 “골바람 지붕 발전소”라는 혁신적인 소규모 풍력 발전 솔루션을 제안해 관심을 끌었으며, 이번 본선에서 전국에서 모인 쟁쟁한 팀들과 세계대회 진출권을 놓고 겨루게 되었다.

징검다리스쿨은 지난 2020년부터 사북공공도서관에서 진행하고 있는 정선군 청소년 지역인재 양성 프로그램으로, 성장의지가 뚜렷한 폐광지역 초중등 학생을 엄선하여 인문학·로봇코딩·창의수학·외국어·디자인·디지털 예술 등 창의적인 융합 교육을 제공하고 있다.
