장애인의 인식개선, 사회참여, 자립을 위해 건립된 평창군 장애인복지센터는 장애인단체와 시설이 입주해 있으며, 복지센터 내 어울림 체육센터를 작년 증축하여 게이트볼, 한궁 등 다양한 스포츠 및 여가활동도 활발히 이루어지고 있다. 

지체장애인협회 평창군지회는 현재 장애인직업재활시설인 곰두리광고와 교통약자이동지원센터를 위탁 운영하고 있으며, 2022년 9월 1일부터 2027년 8월 31일까지 5년 동안 장애인복지센터를 위탁 운영하게 된다. 

심재국 평창군수는 “장애인분들에게 질 높은 복지서비스를 제공하고 책임감 있는 운영이 이루어질 수 있도록 최선을 다해주시길 바란다.”고 당부했다.
