[장선희 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 3월 16일부터 이달 말까지, 의정부시는 쾌적한 가로 환경조성을 위해 시 전역의 가로수 및 녹지대를 대상으로 새봄맞이 환경정비를 실시한다고 밝혔다.

시는 도보 및 차량을 이용하는 시민을 위해 쾌적한 녹지공간을 제공하고자 가로녹지대의 월동 바람막이, 제설제 차단막 제거 및 겨우내 쌓인 낙엽과 가로수 보호틀 내의 쓰레기 청소를 실시하며, 또한, 띠녹지 경계 외부로 흘러내린 토사를 정비하고 고사목 및 훼손된 수목을 교체해 새로운 수목 식재와 가로수 가지치기 등 도로변 초화류 식재로 시민이 화사한 봄의 향기를 맡을 수 있도록 가로경관을 조성할 예정이라고 전했다.

박성복 환경사업소장은 “가로수와 녹지대의 지속적 관리를 통해 시민 누구나 자연과 함께 쉴 수 있는 안전하고 쾌적한 녹색 공간을 제공하기 위해 최선을 다하겠다”고 밝혔다.

한편, 언제나 푸르른 가로환경 관리를 위해 녹지대 유지관리원별 순찰 담당 구간을 지정해 가로수 및 녹지대 순찰을 통해 수시점검·정비할 계획이라고 했다.
