[김현우 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 강릉시는 메리츠화재해상보험(meritz) 주식회사와 2022년 걱정해결사업을 추진한다고 밝혔다.

걱정해결사업은 법적 공여급여 지급을 받을 수 없는 복지 취약계층을 발굴·자립 지원 사업으로 전국 10개 지자체와 협약을 체결하고 있으며, 강원도에서는 강릉시가 유일한 협약 파트너이고, 메리츠화재는 이 사업을 통해 2013년부터 9년간 매년 5천만 원(총 4억 5천만 원)을 강릉시에 후원해왔다고 전했다. 

특히 지난해에는 총 25가구에 주거비, 생계비, 의료비 등을 지원하여 복지사각지대 가구의 위기상황을 해결하고, 경제적 부담을 해소하는 데 큰 도움을 주었다고 했다.

메리츠화재는 2022년에도 강릉시와 업무협약 체결로 강원사회복지공동모금회를 통해 5천만 원의 후원금을 강릉시에 지정 기탁했고, 강릉시에서는 복합적인 어려움에 처해진 대상자를 발굴해 개별 맞춤형 지원을 할 예정이라고 했다.

강릉시 관계자는“강릉시 복지 취약계층을 위해 지속적인 공헌을 하는 메리츠화재에 감사드린다”라며“앞으로도 민·관이 상호협력하여 지역복지 개선을 이끌어 갈 수 있기를 바란다”라고 말했다.
