[김일웅 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 강원경찰청은 야간·심야시간대 간선도로상에 불법 주차된 차량에 의해 발생할 수 있는 대형사고를 방지하기 위해 간선도로 야간 불법(밤샘) 주차 행위에 대하여 단속을 강화한다고 밝혔다.

 

날이 어둑한 시간, 갓길에 주차된 차량 특히, 대형차량은 ‘도로위 흉기’나 다름없다. 시야에 느닷없이 들어오는 까닭에 피할 겨를도 없이 변을 당하기 십상이다. 최근 도내 ‘주차 차량 충돌사고’로 사망한 사람은 2명이며, 연평균 50건이 발생했다고 전했다.

지난 1월 8일 원주에서 야간에 승용차량이 편도 3차로 大路를 운행하다가 3차로에 주차되어 있던 버스 후미를 충격해 운전자가 사망했으며, 지난해 8월경에도 강릉에서 심야에 오토바이가 시내 도로를 운행하다가 2차로에 주차되어 있던 건설기계를 충격해 운전자가 사망한 사례가 있다.

 

이처럼 야간 대형차량의 불법 주차행위는 단순한 차량소통 지장에 그치지 않고, 운전자의 시야를 방해하여 차량 추돌사고 또는 보행자사고의 원인이 된다. 특히, 강우(설), 안개 등 기상상황이 안 좋거나 신체 반응속도가 느린 노인 운전자에게는 그 위험성이 더 커진다고 했다.
